Crafty Jar Holder

Reuse what you have to increase storage and organization in your home.

There are so many ways you can use this piece and it seriously only cost 5 to 10 dollars to complete.

The below steps are guidelines and are not meant to be exact for viewers.  You can use what you have in your home to make it work for you.  Make sure you measure and level before doing all the painting.

Steps:

1. Keep jars after you have used them (pickle jars, jam jars, sauce jars, etc) and make sure to soak and scrape off labels

2. Cut the wood

3. Drill holes for jar wire holders

4. Sand the wood

5. Add hangers on the back of the wood

6. Stain the wood

7. Paint the wood (Check your garage for any left over paint or check out the clearance section of Lowes or Homedepot)

8. Add Stencil for name or title

9. Add the wires with jars and make sure they are tight (label them if necessary).  The neat things about these wire cords is that they can be loosened and tightened.

10. Hang on the wall

11. Fill them with many different items.  Things you just enjoy or things you are trying to organize.  We are using our crafty jar holders for our children to put their money earned.  A SHARE jar and a SPEND jar.  We are hoping to teach them the importance of spending/saving money wisely as well as learn to give to others in need.

I hope you enjoyed this How To; let me know what you think and be sure to share what you would put in your jars 🙂

Thanks,

Katie

For about four years my class participated in this event and the students loved creating works of art and crafts!  Even more, they loved working the booth and seeing people enjoying their work.  Here are a few pictures of some of the unique work my students have done.  Trust me there are a lot of booths with many different items and interests that you’ll be sure to find something you admire.

There are many opportunities for children to enjoy this event as well.  So bring the kids and encourage them to enjoy the arts. The Art Factory will be open to help kids get inspired and create something to take home to remind them of the artist in them.

Art lovers of all sorts are selling their priceless works of art as well as crafts on March 25th and 26th (2017).  The Art Festival is located in Winthrop Town Centre area off of Bloomingdale and Providence.  There is a large field area behind Boca’s Restaurant that will be filled with tents ready for customers. Hope to see you there!

Using inexpensive watercolors, crayons and watercolor paper you can make a beautiful flower bouquet painting.  My 3 year old enjoyed painting over the wax crayons and seeing her painting come to life. Click on the link to watch my you-tube video  Simple Valentine Watercolor Painting

Dreams for an Inspirational Business

What is the purpose of having a blog for a tearoom that I don’t own yet?  We all have hopes and dreams that we long to achieve.  Well, a family friendly tearoom with an adult special needs program is mine.

I have never owned my own business before; though I have run a school based coffee business (but that story is for another day – check my ‘about’ me page for more details).  Each day I’m learning new things about myself, tea, crafts, special needs and business planning.  Part of my dream includes trying all of these new learnings together.

My vision is simple: To use my passions and skills so that we may benefit from one another.  Then, when I do finally have my tearoom, I will be able to bring people together with each visit and encounter.  But what does that look like?  I would like to inspire others to join me in empowering those with disabilities, build compassion/character in each other, and encourage uniqueness all while satisfying your taste buds.

Community involvement is a huge part of the mission/vision of PeachPearPlum.  From the arts (music, crafts, stories, etc), working with schools to increase Service Learning opportunities, as well as increase knowledge and comfort around people with disabilities.

This blog is here to help me stay focused on my dream as well as entertain, guide and educate others.  My posts will range from tea decor, crafts and recipes, to special needs job skills and accommodations.

I look forward to trying new things, building on what I already know and receiving feedback/knowledge from my readers.  I invite you to learn and dream along with me.
